Your gift can help us reach our fundraising goal of $10,000 this holiday, which equals the total average cost of 4 MCHFH Home Preservation Projects in Monroe County.
MCHFH has successfully partnered with 11 families in need to complete necessary home repairs so far this fiscal year. With a goal of completing 19 more home repair projects before July 1, 2018, MCHFH is in need of your support! When our neighbors live in safer, healthier homes they are able to be more productive citizens and our whole community benefits!
- MCHFH partners with our Monroe County neighbors to complete home repairs with a hand up, not a hand out.
- MCHFH requires homeowners in need of repairs to complete 6 hours of sweat equity (volunteering) on a neighbor’s home repair project before their own project will begin.
- Homeowners are given an interest free loan on cost of materials that MCHFH allows to be paid back over a 3 year period.
- Volunteer labor is used to keep the cost of home repair projects to a minimum. The volunteers that help to complete the home repair projects are the Monroe County neighbors of those homeowners in need.
- Your donation dollars stay local.
- When our neighbors live in safer, healthier homes they are able to be more productive citizens and our whole community benefits!
“Unfortunately I went through some hard times, I went through a divorce and a foreclosure. I saw an article on the news, that not only did Habitat for Humanity build houses for people, that they did do renovations! Contractors were just out of my means. So I figured why not send them an application.
“When Habitat for Humanity came and I filled out the application and I was approved, I was told that I would be able to pay back any materials that were provided for my project over a three year period with no interest, which was fantastic. I was so thrilled to have them approve me! I would not have been able to afford to get the work done if it wasn’t for Habitat. I would still be living with holes in my walls, doors and windows that didn’t open.
“My experience with Habitat has been wonderful! Everybody has been so nice! They did great work, everything was perfect! They did everything from sheet-rocking some holes in the walls to replacing doors. They put gutters on the outside of the house for me, and new windows in my living room.
“I literally sat there after everything was done, all day, and I went from looking from my windows to the walls, to the windows to the walls, I was just so thrilled, and I couldn’t get over how good everything looked! We’ve lived in the home now for two years, and once the work was completed, my daughter said it finally feels like a home!
“Please donate. I would recommend donating to Habitat as a charity, any donations small or big. And I would love to thank all the donors for all their donations. It’s a wonderful organization, they do great work, and they are greatly appreciated!”
