Your gift can help us reach our fundraising goal of $12,000 this year, which equals the total average cost of 4 MCHFH Home Preservation Projects in Monroe County.
We have collected $6,260 of our $12,000 target. It is 52.17% of our goal for the Annual Appeal campaign
MCHFH has successfully partnered with 11 families in need to complete necessary home repairs so far this fiscal year. With a goal of completing 19 more home repair projects before July 1, 2017, MCHFH is in need of your support! When our neighbors live in safer, healthier homes they are able to be more productive citizens and our whole community benefits!
MCHFH partners with our neighbors to complete home repairs with a hand up, not a hand out. MCHFH requires homeowners in need of repairs to complete 6 hours of sweat equity (volunteering) on a neighbor’s home repair project before their own project will begin. Homeowners are given an interest free loan on cost of materials that MCHFH allows to be paid back over a 3 year period. Volunteer labor is used to keep the cost of home repair projects to a minimum. The volunteers that help to complete the home repair projects are the Monroe County neighbors of those homeowners in need. Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is made up of “neighbors helping neighbors with a hand up, not a hand out!”
“Enclosed is our May payment, thank you again for all the help with the roof. I thank God for you every day and even more when it rains because I don’t feel like I need an umbrella to sit and watch TV.”

“I am writing this letter in appreciation for the work that Habitat performed on my home property. Without your help this could not / would not have been done and now I feel so comfortable that I don’t have to worry about tripping and falling. Being a disabled senior citizen makes simple, everyday tasks seem impossible sometimes and just knowing that I can now walk either with my cane or walker along either walkway around my home and not having to worry about every step like before makes me feel so at ease. I plan on living here unti I leave this earth and being able to move around more safely outside is a blessing.”
“We’re forever grateful to Habitat for Humanity and the wonderful team of volunteers for helping us give our daughter a chance to remain mobile. Without their aid in building a much needed ramp at our home, and the generous donations from those at Ciara’s school, we would be continuing to carry Ciara, and her chair, up and down a flight of stairs on our deck. The ramp will enable us to transfer her safely in and out of our home. The ramp was beautifully built, and it was a pleasure working alongside the volunteers.”
“I was desperate for help; my deck was falling down and my homeowners insurance was cancelled because of it. I was referred to MCHFH. I filled out an application and I prayed to God that they would help me. When I got the call that I was approved for the repair I was so thankful, my prayers had been answered. I now have peace of mind, I was able to get my insurance back and my family can enjoy summer on our new, safe deck.”
