Monroe County Habitat for Humanity Launches Annual Campaign

Tobyhanna, PA, November 15, 2017 – Monroe County Habitat for Humanity has kicked off its Annual Campaign and hopes to raise $10,000 by the end of the year.

According to Habitat’s executive director Kelly Kemmerer, $10,oo0 equals the total average cost of four home preservation projects. “We set a goal of completing 30 home preservation projects during this fiscal year which ends on July 1, 2018, and so far we’ve partnered with 11 families who now enjoy the security of living in safer, healthier homes.  With 19 additional projects on the horizon, funds raised during our Annual Campaign will certainly help us achieve our goal,” she said.

Home Preservation projects result in a win/win, Kemmerer explained. “When our neighbors live in safer, healthier homes they are able to be more productive citizens, and our entire community benefits. The homeowner’s contribution of ‘sweat equity,’ interest free loans from Habitat, and volunteer labor keep the costs down, so this really becomes a hand up rather than a hand out.”

“Habitat depends on the generosity of friends, corporations, churches and community organizations to fulfill its mission,” Kemmerer added. “The holiday season is the perfect time to support the less fortunate among us.”

Contributions to the annual appeal can be mailed to Monroe County Habitat for Humanity, 354 Memorial Boulevard, Tobyhanna, PA 18466. They can also be made online at For more information, contact Kelly Kemmerer at 570 216-4390 or
