Santa’s Early Visit Helps Habitat for Humanity Family

Tobyhanna, PA – December 17, 2018 – Christmas came early for Alberto and Judy Colombani in Pocono Lake, and Santa was none other than local contractor Adam Coppola of Coppola Heating, Air Conditioning and Plumbing.

A First Responder during 9/11, Alberto suffers from breathing difficulties caused by asbestos exposure and emphysema, as well as PTSD. These debilitating conditionswere exacerbated by issues in their home that requiredmold remediation, as well as roof, heating and air conditioning repairs. Unable to afford these repairs, the family turned to Habitat for Humanity for assistance.

“We learned that this work was going to exceed our allotted budget,” explained Kelly Kemmerer, Habitat’s executive director, “but when Adam Coppola visited the home to provide an estimate, he was so moved by the urgency of the situation that hedecided to make the necessary repairs immediately at no cost – donating equipment and labor in excess of $3,000 to ensure that the Colombani home was safe and healthy.”

“Every year my holiday spirit kicks in and I look for ways to give back to my community, but this was special,” Coppola explained. “Alberto’s experience as a 9/11 First Responder really hit home with me. A cousin of mine was also a 9/11 First Responder who unfortunately succumbed to similarcomplications, and I realized that my company could help this family have a merrier Christmas by making sure their home environment was healthy – something they truly deserved. We were able to complete the job the very next day and I am so grateful to Habitat for allowing me to be part of this. “

As far as the Colombani’s are concerned, Adam Coppola is their own personal Santa Claus.  “We’ve been struggling for so long,” Judy Colombani said, “and Adam’s decision to help us was just so overwhelming. There is no way we can express our gratitude to him and to Habitat for Humanity. They gave us a Christmas gift that we’ll appreciate forever.”

“Habitat’s stated purpose is to make sure everyone has a safe, decent place to live,” said Kemmerer. “Adam’s gift allowed us to move forward to with our home preservation project for the Columbanisand it absolutely symbolizes the true spirit of Christmas. We deeply appreciate his kindness and generosity.”
