Event to be Held at Kalahari on April 22

The new Kalahari Resort and Conference Center in Pocono Manor will be the site for Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s 7th annual Celebration Dinner on April 22nd, from 6-11pm. Proceeds from the event will support Habitat’s mission to provide safe and secure housing to all Monroe County residents in need.

According to Kelly Kemmerer, Habitat’s executive director, the agency is currently focused on home preservation, with a goal of completing 23 projects by May. “Home preservation allows homeowners affected by low income, age, or disability to remain in their homes by making necessary repairs and accommodations,” she explained. “Stable housing is about more than simply providing a roof over someone’s head; when people have a safe and secure place to live, they are healthier and more productive citizens.  Clearly this work strengthens both families and communities, and Habitat relies on community support to achieve its goals.”

“Supporting this event is a win-win,” Kemmerer said. “You’ll enjoy a festive evening at the new and exciting Kalahari Resort and provide a hand-up to our neighbors in need.  We look forward to celebrating with everyone.”

The Celebration Dinner includes a silent auction and music and dancing to the sounds of Terry, Terrance, and Harper. To inquire about sponsorship opportunities and tickets contact Monroe County Habitat for Humanity at 570 476-9846, or visit
