Habitat for Humanity, Pocono Builders Association and Valor Clinic Foundation Need Volunteers for Paul’s House Rehab
Tobyhanna, PA, July 12, 2019 – The Major Paul Syverson Veteran’s Sanctuary in the rural Monroe County town of Kunkletown, commonly known as Paul’s House, will be the beneficiary of a much needed facelift next week thanks to a partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the Pocono Builders Association, and the Valor Clinic Foundation.
According to Habitat’s executive director Kelly Kemmerer, 10 Habitat volunteers are needed daily (except Sundays) from 9am to 3pm, during the weeks of July 15 and July 22.
“A total of 120 volunteers are needed,” she said, “to scrape and paint Paul’s House (formerly Hotel Jonas) which provides food, shelter and other essential services to veterans. We’re reaching out to individuals and businesses to provide the workers and materials.”
According to Kemmerer, painting supplies (paint, rollers, brushes, etc.) as well as ladders are needed in addition to volunteers. Habitat is also in need of professional painters to donate their services.
“This is a special opportunity to thank the veterans for the courageous service and tremendous sacrifices they have made for our freedom,” Kemmerer said. “We routinely thank them for their service on Memorial Day and Veterans Day, but this opportunity allows us to go beyond the holidays and put those words into action.”
